Existential Crisis #5087
Hi—i’m still in the mood to create four panel comics, so here’s another one.
In other news, since the comic is about falling down a rabbit hole, I thought I’d share some other rabbit holes I’ve fallen down this week (I thought about calling this Substack, Rabbit Holes):
Old Movies: I’m thrilled that my local cineplex, which usually shows conventional movies, has started showing “classics.” This week, my daughter and I saw Singing in the Rain. There’s nothing like an old movie. I’m not a big fan of CGI or overly botoxed actors and actresses. It’s nice seeing real faces.
The No Buy Movement: I’ve been sort of interested lately in the no buy movement, where you set a list of stuff that you won’t buy for the year, and stick with it. If I did it, I would want to stop buying new clothes (maybe any clothes), any toiletries that aren’t replacements, jewelry, and home goods, for example. I’m never giving up my morning coffee with friends or buying wedding or other gifts. I’m a huge book person, but I’ve really enjoyed getting books from the library app, Libby. That way, I can try more books and not feel guilty when I don’t finish them. I listen to audiobooks when I walk. I also want to stop taking online classes for a year. My goal (which I’ve written about before) is: Create more, consume less. I’m not ready to commit to the no buy year, but I’m moving in the direction of conscious spending.
The Shakers: I went to a beautiful wedding in a Shaker chair factory and it rocked my world, because I recently watched the freaky movie, The Testament of Ann Lee. I thought the Shakers were timid old fashioned neat freaks, but that is far from the truth..they are wild (watch the movie if you haven’t). I’ve got to go back to the Berkshires to visit the Shaker Village.
Anyway, here’s my latest comic, based on my latest rabbit hole:

Rabbit holes should be their own category of diary comic! This is great—keep going!
I love that!! Is happiness a protein bwahhahaha!!
